because like I mentioned in my last post, I need new jeans to fit my ever growing baby bump.
I've decided to stick to regular jeans and use the belly band, it seems like the best option seeing as the only maternity jeans I've tried on have looked like capri's...and it's 20 degrees, so that ain't gonna work out :).
So I went in with high hopes and a light heart. To be honest, I was just excited to be in a fitting room by myself - I didn't even know what to do in there without 5 other people...or a double stroller...or pretzel goldfish flying through the air.
I'd be lying if I said I enjoyed the tiny little blonde who was patrolling outside my fitting room door while I tried to get my normal size pants past my thighs - I'm just being honest people. I'm always shocked at how much your whole body changes even though there hasn't been a ton of weight gain. It's always a real nice surprise.
(he's worth every pound, and every pair of ill fitting pants, btw.) :)
And in case you need a good laugh, why don't you try to explain to said tiny blonde college student that you are pregnant and looking for a comfy pair of jeans that you can leave unbuttoned, but will be held together by a big belly band since your belly will grow to unknown measurements throughout the next 3 months.
There was a fear in her eyes as I stood there and explained her potential future.
I'm pretty sure I scarred her for life. I didn't mean to.
So I tried on lots of pants - bootcut, flare, straight leg, and even the trendy "worn in" look.
You know what I bought?
Sweatpants. And then an Icee.
Well actually, sales girl said they are "track pants".
Track pants, yoga pants, lounge pants - call them whatever you want.
They're still sweatpants.
But you know what, I really do love them. And I will find some new jeans at some point...maybe after I get my fill of these "track pants". After all, I have a pair of jeans that do fit, they're just a little on the worn out side.
And when I say worn out, I mean broken in - and when I say broken in I mean wonderful.
So I'm going to count this shopping experience as a victory - as I should, right?? :)

So funny! Who needs jeans anyway? You need to be comfy as can be so you can get down on the floor and play with the kids or at least be comfy on the couch as they climb on you!
I hate buying jeans period. I feel for you.
Oh. My. Goodness. I am laughing out loud and crying which caused Ben to make me read it out loud. I couldn't because I was laughing so hard. You kill me!
Victory indeed! ;)
Absolutely, I mean out could of come home completely empty handed. I do like how you said you do have a pair of pants that are "work out" but you can always think of em as that new pair you tried on that were
"worn in" heheh
At least you walked out with something. ;) Seriously tho', I'm not sure what your inseam is but have you tried Old Navy or Gap? You can get them in Long (34"), and you can always order online if there isn't one near you.
My all-time fave pair of maternity jeans were Old Navy low rise boot cut!
you make me feel normal. I thought I was the only woman on the planet who grew out of her everyday jeans by eight weeks..... {no I'm not joking}. There is NO way I would be able to wear normal jeans during pregnancy... I am just a 'pregnant all over' kinda gal.... including my thighs :|
It really is funny how your whole body changes when you are pregnant. Crazy! Loved the post!

Perfect for winter :) You could buy a few more colors and you'd be set.
Sounds like a victory to me! And who says you can't just wear "track" pants everyday? If they're not really sweatpants according to the saleslady then that means they are a tad bit classier, right?! :)
That's hilarious! Wait, are the so-called track pants the brown ones you were wearing the other night? If so, you're right--those are definitely sweatpants. :) I also think they're totally fine to wear out of the house. I would...Ok, I do.
At least there's a sweet little boy causing these issues!! Yay!!
with my last little boy, I DID NOT wear jeans the last 2 months, even though I DID have maternity jeans, even they felt tight!
I figure when you are pregnant, it's a licensee to wear what you want!
Ha ha! Great story. At least you were able to go alone.
Funny stuff! I'm all for taking advantage of the "track pants" while you have a good reason to sport them. Sounds like a pretty comical shopping outing. :)
I have had a HARD time finding maternity jeans, also. I finally found a pair on sale at GAP that I like pretty well. They have the elastic and buttons on the inside of the waistband so the size can be adjusted as the belly grows! Hope you find something that works for you!
I love the young and naive. If only you could also help them understand the sheer joy of being a momma!
Sweatpants sound so much more comfortable. Love that you enjoyed a slushy. My splurge today was Bill's Donuts. YUM!!!!
Love it!
Any outing that includes an Icee definitely counts as a victory :D
(Speaking of which, I was totally craving one a few weeks ago, so I snagged a cup as I headed out of Target. I went boot-shopping immediately afterward and couldn't figure out why the cashier was giving me to oddest look. Imagine my horror when I got back to the car and noticed in the mirror that my teeth were dyed red. Sigh.)
"Track Pants". I love it! :) Have you seen the commerical for "Pajama Jeans" I roll everytime I see the "info"merical! lol
They are offering a free crewneck tee if you order now. Just incase you're interested. lol:

thank you for the smile today! Yoga pants, that's what I call them. and I LOVE them!
Jeggings might be a nice compromise...but then again maybe not. :)
I bet you look SO cute in those track pants. :D
can I just admit that I was REALLY excited to read this post, just from the title! I knew it would be hilarious & I would totally relate... and I was right! :) :)
