I was one mom fail after another yesterday.
I hate admitting that!
I was tired, and have been sick, and I took it out on them.
Surely they will forget my "mean day" and my short temper, right?
I hope so.
I had tears running down my face last night on the way to the store as I thought of the day - I hated the way I had acted. I kept thinking of their little faces as they watched me yell over nothing, a mom who was clearly at the end of her rope.
I could feel God saying, "Just do the next thing, Kate. Take a deep breath in - they are little, and you are really tired. I will give you the strength you need moment by moment, be patient."
But sometimes my listening skills are just as bad as theirs. Ironic, isn't it? :)
So I write this to get it off my chest - I would much rather write about my new candy cane straw from Starbucks that I'm in love with, or post bright new pictures.
But my days don't always go as planned - well, they rarely ever go just as planned!
See, just more evidence that I don't have it all under control. I'm not the only one, right? :)

Kate, I have had those days too. The guilt can be consuming, but thankfully we have a God who forgives and sweet children who do too. Forgive yourself and "do the next thing". Hope to day goes more smoothly for you. I will pray for you right now.
kate, i have more of those days than i care to admit. and i find myself constantly praying for more patience, more poise, more grace. hang in there...you're doing a great job!
Oh Kate, you could be describing my week here! I don't know how you do it, I can barely keep up with my four and I'm not pregnant! Hang in there, friend. You are a fantastic mom & yes your sweet kids will forgive you, just like you forgive them!
Only gonna tell ya this because someone shared it with me. It's great advice and I have to revert to it all the time. Ready?
It wasn't your first bad day and it won't be your last.
:) Ok... don't hit me but just know you are DEF not the only one in that boat.
Sending hugs your way.
Nope...you're not the only one! We all have days like that. Some people just aren't honest enough to admit it!
Oh, those days are so hard! It's so hard when we are faced with the ugliness of our hearts. Thank goodness we DO have a Savior who helps us in our time of need. You know where I'm at if you need to step out for an hour for some fresh air to clear your head. Sometimes that is all it takes :) Hang in there, friend!
You are allowed - believe me. It is so refreshing to hear you don't have it all together at all times. I know I don't and I don't have 5 kids (and one on the way). You are a beautiful loving mother - that is how your girls will always see you!!
Praying for you. I know how hard that is. I don't understand why I yell at Dustyn either. I get so frustrated sometimes. Hoping you feel better soon. You are amazing!
Aww it's ok momma! We all have those days! We just have to forgive ourselves and move on to the next day. We are after all human right? (Let's see how well I can heed my own advice! lol) Being pregnant might add to it also. ;)
Take care momma! Stay beautiful!
Even the best of us have days like those. Just think about all of the WONDERFUL days that you have! I am constantly in awe of you as a mother. Those little ladies are growing up in a fun house filled with lots of love, and that's because of you! So, instead of thinking about this one bad day, focus on the big picture. You, of all people, deserve to be able to do that! Love you!
Do you know what's SO great about my children... and no doubt yours AND the children of all your other readers...... they still love you & adore you & forgive you...... despite you having a bad day. :)
I think it's VITAL our children see us as humans... not perfect robot mummies who never get tired, or cross, or cranky.... ok it's not great but we ALL do it. It's not something to be proud of but it's NOT something to be ashamed of either......
I am sorry you are so low with your tiredness & illness.. no doubt your pregnancy is doing what it should be and is draining you ....... in the BIG scheme of producing another little life that baby is doing what is is designed to do... sap every last ounce of energy you have...... {haha} I feel for you...... sending REST, a MASSAGE & Soup across the globe..... :):)
