Purple Applesauce

The girls are a little under the weather, it's 300 degrees outside, well 90, but it feels like 300, so we are stuck in the house. With the exception of the quick run I made to Target with them, just to provide some sanity. And entertainment:

I promise I won't post another conversation for a while...unless it's funny :)...

Lady: Whoa
Me: (in my mind) Oh here we go...
Lady:(yelling down the aisle) Fred, you gotta come see this.
Me: (smiling, and wondering why Fred needs to come over and check us out - only 5 kids here, it's not like I have 15 w/ me.) Hi there...sweet aren't they? (that had nothing to do w/ the situation at hand, but I don't always know what to say)
Lady: Is it a blessing or a curse?
Ella - my 5yr old: 2 sets of twins, 5 girls...we have our hands full. It's fun.
Lady: (stands there for a second w/ a blank stare seeing as she just got put in her place by a 5yr old) I know, honey...your mommy sure looks busy.
Me: Ok, well - have a nice day!

Is it a good or bad thing that Ella has started answering the questions??

--------------------

I don't really have a lot of time to chat w/ strangers when I have faces like this to get home and make some good old natural food for...

Ain't she cute?
And you know how I love to cook up some natural and organic food.
You know, when I'm not finishing off a bag of Twizzlers.

Today my lovelies and I spent time making some yummy treats:

Almond Butter
and Blueberry, Raspberry, and Blackberry Applesauce.

Also known around here as, "Purple Applesauce".

I wish I would have made the Almond (nut) Butter a little more creamy, but hey, the girls love it...they especially love dipping apples in it...yum.

And I'm not sure if they love the actual "applesauce" for the flavor, or because it is purple - the jury is still out on that.

But I'm fine with either reason.

So, that is what we have been up to. What have you been up to?!

Wow! I had some good reading today! I have missed quite a bit from your house... oh, and all those conversations too. I say keep them coming. Kids DO say the darnest things and people can say the dumbest.....well, nevermind.

Hope you are doing well and enjoying your summer, girl.

I have 3 kids {9, 3 and 22 months} and I get stopped constantly. Mine are half Chinese half Caucasian so I get 'your hands are so full' 'you know what causes that don't ya' 'don't you own a tv, seriously' 'are they yours, adopted?'

I simply smile and nod. I really am not sure what those people expect me to say either.

oh, and, my Ella tells people often that "having 4 kids is ALOT of work!"

What is she going to say when we have FIVE?!?!?!?!

Girl, you make your own almond butter too? You rock! Do you just do it in your food processor?

Isn't it funny - I wait so long for summer, then it gets SO hot that I can't wait for fall! :)

Sounds like you girls have been having fun. I can't imagine the comments you get - I get more than my fair share and I only have 4 lil ladies!

Oh and I meant to tell you - I've heard the comment "haven't you figured out what causes this" TOO MANY TIMES - totally inappropriate in my opinion. Anyway, when we found out we were expecting Lauren, my brother made that comment to us. My response, "Apparently, we know way better than all of you what causes this!"

Your 5-yr old sounds experienced!!! I think it's funny that she answers that question for you. What amazes me is that people will ask that same question right in front of my kids....as if I'm gonna say back, "Oh yeah, it's a huge curse. Can you believe God punished me like this?". First of all, I obviously don't feel that way but why would anyone ask if I feel my kids are a curse (esp right in front of them). Then I had to have "what's a curse?" talk with the kids. I told them "we're a unique kind of family that seems interesting to others". All Bella could say was "we're unicorns??".
