Local Mother Has Mental Breakdown In Dressing Room

Authorities were called to Target on Main St. Friday morning after they received a call about a situation the store had in their fitting rooms.

Officials arrived after a call from a frightened fitting room attendant came through saying there was screaming, weeping, and what sounded like things being thrown at the mirror coming from the large fitting room where the woman had gone in with her children, ages 6, 4, 4, 1, and 1.

Come to find out, the weeping and screaming was coming from the mother who was found passing out snacks of all sorts to tame her children, and attempting to rip several swimsuits to shreds.

It appears that 29yr old Kate, mother of 5, had gone in with all the children to try on swimsuits. Why she would do that to herself, we don't know. She told an officer, "it was a last resort" and "I just can't seem to get out of the house alone these days" and "don't blame me, swimsuit shopping isn't healthy for anyone - it should be illegal!!"

She was released after promising to never, under any circumstance, enter the fitting room to try on bathing suits with all the children again. The police officers called it, "irrational" and "unnecessary torture" to put yourself in that kind of situation.

They are hoping that this can be a lesson to all mothers out there.

Well, not really. But that is the story I feel could potentially surface after I take all the girls with me today to find a swimsuit. Sweet Mercy, it has to be done.

Wish me luck!

  4. God bless you, woman. I only have two year old twin boys and that much noise seems to come from the three if us anytime snacks are involved. You are mighty brave... My legs haven't seen the light of say since I got pregnant so I choose to swim in jeans. It's just safer on everyone's retinas. Great post!!!!

  5. Hilarious! I wonder who was scarred the most after today's shopping experience--you, the girls, or the store employees? Can't wait to hear how it actually went! :)

  6. hahahahahaha!!!!!!!!this is good. love it! Lands End I'm telling you. They are always having free shipping and discounts. You can return to Sears for free anything you don't like. Their suits were just 40 - 50$ off. I am not sure if they still are. I ordered several to try on in the comfort of my own home :)

Why don't you just order several of them on the internet (with free shipping), try them on at home, and return the ones you don't want to the store???

  16. Oh I hope it went well!!! I chickened out this year and ordered a suit from Land's End! I tried it on at home, then asked my nearly-three-year old what she thought. "Good," she said. "Now will you put on some normal clothes?" :D

  18. Oh Kate. You are a brave woman, for so many reasons. I'm MUCH older than you.... FAR more wrinkly & saggy. There is NO way I would do what you did. So hats off to you, you pretty young thing ;)

Can you go back take them all into the changeroom and photograph that for us??
I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one interested in what it actually looks like with five children IN the tiny teeny changerooms..... :):)

  21. Do you ever go to Target BY YOURSELF ... after the hubby is home??? You know, you can go buy bathing suits, bring them home to try on, and return them if they don't fit. I just did that last week. I did not want to take my 8, 8, 10, 11 year olds to the mall to try on swimsuits. However, a few days later, I did take the teenagers (while Papa was with the young ones) to try on their own swimsuits. :)

  22. Gotta agree with a few other commenters ... Lands End is the BEST for Mama's swimsuits. Oh yes! Try them on in the comfort of your own bedroom. My kind of shopping.
