The Latest ( And The Locker Room)

We're on Spring Break over here.

Nothing fancy going on, we aren't vacation bound or anything, but we are staying in our pj's till after 9am and THAT my friends, is a vacation in itself. Right? Right.

So Monday the girls had some friends over, and yesterday I took the kiddos (and the neighbor) swimming. They were so excited, they were in their swimsuits at 8am...I'm surprised they didn't have goggles on already as well. The YMCA was interesting, I unfortunately forgot to warn the girls that elderly women tend to change out of their swimsuits right there in the middle of the locker room for all to see.

The shock on their face was priceless. And understandable.

(Random, but do people not know how uncomfortable that can be for everyone else? I was going in for a leisurely afternoon of swimming, and instead I had to teach a 2 hour class on the female anatomy and how it changes with age. Put a robe on, woman!)

(Sorry. I had to get that out. You all are such good listeners.)

30 brought me a new sense of confidence. So maybe 80 brings the walk-around-in-the-bare confidence? I honestly don't foresee that, sisters. But I guess only time will tell.

Anyway.

Lincoln has been sick (as I mentioned on Facebook). He's had a fever of 102, so he's felt pretty miserable. We've done a lot of snuggling, and he's done a lot of sleeping...

And the girls have even been movies, playing outside, and doing some relaxing...

I love relaxing. And naps. I really love naps. Neither of those exist for us moms, though. Someday, right?

So that's what we've been up to. Nothing too out of the ordinary, unless you count the YMCA discovery - unfortunately that might be etched in their minds forever :).

Hope you are having a great week so far!

Well, I made the mistake of taking my daughter and her friends to the indoor pool (although it wasn't a Y) for her birthday. So I traumatized a bunch of 8yo girls - go me! This woman was not only 80, and had had some major surgery, and was changing, but she had to apply lotion for a LONG TIME before putting any clothes on ... sigh. I wonder if they remember? ;-)

(the author is a perfectionist and saw a typo ... )

Oh goodness, the lotion, that cracked me up!

Well that was a very funny experience for sure and hey if you have to teach 'a class' I guess an older version is good? I can't see myself EVER doing that infact I don't even OWN a swimsuit.

I change out in the open! I am only 31 years old. I'd say its the fact that I have four children, and cannot cram us all into a dressing room, and I cannot let them go unsupervised, so we just do it all in a little corner somewhere. I believe that since it is only girls in the dressing room, that it teaches a healthy body image. A great way to show ALL body shapes and sizes are made by God and helps keep them away form thinking that only the super skinny minis they see on tv are the body to have.
just my opinion.

Your story cracked me up. But like Leanne, I'm thinking it's not all bad to learn early. I grew up in a place where it was normal to change in a locker room. I and my older sister used to go to the public pool together and she taught me a lot about respecting other people's bodies and what's appropriate to look at and not.. to mention some valuable lessons, lol! But I was more like 9-10 at that time. Can't imagine trying to teach my 4 yo about different body shapes yet.. She wants to wear my bra (sweet little imitator). When I told her it's too big for her, she asked "can I have one fou-yees-size, mama?" hahaha

So, unrelated to the locker room, I made your grilled cheese pizza sandwiches today! But, I didn't have pepperoni, so I used chicken instead (breaded from last nights chicken parm. that was left over). It was delicious! I would have never thought to do that, thanks for sharing! :-)

So glad you liked them! Making them with chicken sounds fabulous!

i just want to say that at 37 years old i still remember the first time i saw full grown (not sure if they were elderly or not, their face is not what is etched in my memory!) just whipping their bathing suits off in the locker room in Adventure Island. I was horrified! H.O.R.R.I.F.I.E.D! i think i was 8 or 10 years old. it was the last day i got naked in front of anyone. it made me self conscious and worried and literally changed me. *sigh* someone needs to let women know that there are changing ROOMS for a reason. haha.
