You've Been A Friend

Monkey, I bought you when I was pregnant with Kinley and Raya...

And Kinley loooves you. You've taken many naps...

You've had a ton of hugs...

And you've even been to the pool...

But you are one tough monkey, or "monk" as Kinley calls you.

You are her little buddy - and what could possibly be better than that??

Oh Lord, please let me always remember that sweet smile, those snowman pj's, the fresh smell of the bath, and the way her curls fall in her face as she plays with the loose stitching on him.

He's a keepsake for sure. I think I'll save him and give him to her when she has a babe of her own :).

You have a treasure in your house like this, right??

Our daughter was never attached to a stuffed animal, but we bought this EXACT same monkey for our son before he was born and it has been with him since say one. He loves it!! There's just something about that cute little monkey!!

Our oldest son is 27. We have the teddy bear that was given to me at a baby shower before he was born. Somehow, the bear got the name of "Bosley". Bosley has lived with Gregg in Georgia, Texas, Louisiana. Bosley has traveled to Iraq in the military luggage. Bosley has been home for a few years, but he is getting ready for his most important trip. Bosley will be making his new home in the cradle we used for each of our 10 birth babies ... when our first grandson is born next month. Yes. Our first born is about to have his first born ... and Bosley will be there to welcome him home.

I, too, have my 50 year old teddy bear. He lives on the big fluffy pillows at the head of my bed. Truly a treasure.

Can you imagine Monk in 25 years? How about 50? I can.

So adorable, the little one I babysit has a small brown monkey purchased at Target for a dollar, that is always with her, then she has fiona doll from shrek and now she packs pablo from backyardigans. They all go with her wherever she goes. Fiona was lost once but I found another one on Ebay.(quick thinking auntie) Our own children had favorites too, my daughter was the easiest she packed around a cloth diaper, easy to replace with a new one. Each child gets 'attached' to something and that is just fine. I pray you place him in a special box someday for her. IT is a treasure for them as they get older and a piece of their childhood history.

Love her little curls!
Lydia is the only one of ours that's had a few favorites. It use to be White Doggie and Kitty Tail. Now it's Pink Bear and Princess Aurora.

We have a pink elephant that one of my sons attached too, but I use for all my babies' 6 month-old pictures. It's bright pink in my oldest's picture and a grungy pink in my 4th born's picture. Zach's turn with "pinky" is coming up next month!
