The One Where I Talk About My Amazing Self Control

Tell me it's a boy thing.

Someone tell me that they too were so, SO hungry when they were pregnant with a boy. I'm not sure I was even this hungry with the twins...and that says a lot.

Did I tell you that I was going to give up sugar a few weeks back? I didn't? Well, I meant to.

Oh yes, my friends, I decided to kick the sugary snack habit in an effort to not have my baby addicted to high fructose corn syrup at birth, I knew it would help plateau my pregnancy weight gain, and because I thought it would make me feel better - it might stabilize my sugar seeking moods if you will :).

There is something about sugar that makes your moods go up and down, right?  I'm pretty sure that is a fact - or at least just tell me that it's contributing to my end of pregnancy mood swings, and I'll give you a big 'ol virtual hug and move on with my day.

Sooo, me being the determined, self disciplined pregnant lady that I am, I kicked the habit to the curb...

Or maybe I didn't. At all.

Looks like my self control waved goodbye along with my ability to bend over and touch my toes.

Apparently, asking me to not buy jelly beans, is like asking me to not got to Target and not buy stuff we don't need.

I know, it's that serious.

Oh well, at least there is still frozen, organic fruit in the freezer along with those yummy treats, right? Right. It makes it completely acceptable when you can reach in for a handful of blueberries and grab a twix at the same time. It's all about balance, people.

So anyway, is it true that you're hungrier when pregnant with a boy, or is that a lie that I read online to just make me feel better? I haven't gained a whole lot, so I'm not concerned about that - I just could eat cereal between every meal, and then again at 3am. It's never ending.

Is that normal? You tell me :).

I've had four full pregnancies.. boy, girl, girl, boy. I knew each time when I was having a boy. My cravings while pregnant with a boy: pizza, burgers, tacos. My cravings when I was pregnant with a girl: chocolate, icecream. I also didn't gain as much weight with the boys as with the girls. Crazy hormones.

haha! Don't feel bad, we can't all be full of self-control... says the girl who went to the grocery store yesterday, bought a milkway and ate the entire thing before I got to my car :)

My only pregnancy was with our twin boys and I was eating like a mad woman until about 30 weeks and there was no room. I am 5'9" and only gained about 20 pounds up to that point and then I delivered two weeks later and I was starving again! LOL Crazy hormones! I think you are completely normal!

I was STARVING with the twins... I can't imagine being hungrier! yikes! and yes, while pregnant is the worst possible time to kick any kind of habit... much less sugar!:)

I was STARVING until last week when I got this sinus stuff. But, now that the sinus stuff is going away, I find myself eating more and I haven't gained that much either. When I went at 5 1/2 months I had gained 10lbs. Hopefully boys just make you hungry :)

(and btw, I can make you feel better-I ate a HUGE bowl of chocolate ice cream for lunch!)

Hmmm... Not sure! I was super hungry with my b/g twins. But, I've heard that the milk your body produces for boys has a higher caloric count, so maybe that explains it! :)

When I was pregnant with our son, I ate A LOT!!!! With our girls I wasn't as hungry. I have never craved sweets though.

I think it's true! With our daughter, I don't remember the hunger. With our twin boys...ravenous all the time. With this little guy...even more hungry! I was scared to death that I'd gained 10 pounds this month, but at my appt. today my weight was the same and baby's weight had doubled! Yeah! Eat up, Mama! :)

I've been crazy, crazy hungry with this baby, who I think is a boy. Won't know for sure yet, though, so I guess I'm not much help. =)

Oh, and chocolate? With blueberries? Two super-high antioxidants right there!

I don't remember being as hungry with Lydia, but I know with my boys I could put away some serious food and not even feel full.

It's hard to be at the end of your pregnancy when a major holiday is just around the corner, isn't it? All my favorite candy was sitting on the shelves mocking me around Christmas time. I feel your pain! :)

I was doing good with this pregnancy so far until I just hit 30 weeks and now I could waller in anything sweet????

In fact, I just had an ice cream soda.
and my baby was doing flips I tell you!

Hope that makes you feel better;)

Now that I think about it, I was much hungrier with my boys than with my girl. Holy moly, pregnancy #2 was some crazy weight gain.

I'll have to try some blueberries with my next Twix bar ;)
