Saturdays At Home

They are some of my favorite days. We decorated a little more, started our holiday baking, and even cleaned out some closets.

I had an interesting conversation with the girls today...

Me: girls, get in the playroom and clean out all the stuff that's on the floor...and go ahead and move the crayons and markers downstairs.

Girls: Uuuggghhh...why??

Me: because that is going to be your brothers room, and in a month or 2 we are going to have to clear it out completely to decorate.

(Blank stares.)

(Crickets chirping.)

(They looked me like I had 2 heads.)

And then there was a collective...

Girls: Ohhh, the baby.

Me: yes, my loves. Your brother. I know that sounds really different than what you're used to!

I just laughed. It even sounded funny to me right after I said it :).

So, everything around this ol' house says its Winter, and that Christmas is on it's way...

Is there anything better than Christmas lights lit up at night in your home? I just love it.

We did indeed get into some sweet baking today - although my savvy helpers bowed out after rolling about 25 peanut butter balls. They did their best.

I made buckeyes, 7 layer cookies, and lemon bars. Yum!

I did however get into an unhealthy pattern with the buckeyes...

Make one, eat one, make one, eat one, make one, eat one...

Now I'm coming down off a sugar high, and the little guy is kicking like crazy. Just felt one, oh I just want to squeeze him...and kiss his little face.

Sigh.

Well I'm off to catch up on blogs and head downstairs to take my vitamin...and maybe eat another buckeye.

Hope you're having a great weekend, friends!

Oh, Buckeyes... I've been craving them and this post just might have pushed me over the edge. Too bad we're leaving tomorrow for Christmas with relatives! ... Maybe I can get my mother-in-law to make them for me ;)

(P.S. My sons keep calling our baby girl "him" and "he". Ah, these pesky pronouns that have never been in rotation until now :)

Its wonderful to "hear" you say brother!!
On a side note, your wooden floor looks so shiny and new, I have a sudden urge to run around the corner and slide on them in my sock feet! :)

My Granny used to make the best buckeyes. *Sigh* With her passing, no one makes them anymore. I wonder if anyone even has her recipe. I need to ask my Mom; thanks for the reminder! Maybe it's MY turn to make buckeyes!

That's one of the joys of being pregnant during the holidays -- having an excuse to eat an extra treat(or two). And stretchy pants :) Enjoy!

There is nothing wrong with sampling the goodies. I bet it is strange to hear "baby boy","your little brother", "my son". You'll get used to it.

I'm going to have to Google "buckeyes".... I envy all the holiday baking you folk do. In 30 degree heat there is nothing to do but slurp mangoes and ice blocks in the swimming pool!

and your "brother" comment to your girls... Too cute. It'd be the same here of I had to say baby sister around here... I can only imagine the looks of shock horror on all the little faces!

I am soooo jealous of your floor! It's BEAUTIFUL!

Blue after so much pink has to be fun! I know the opposite was for me!
