I Know You'll Understand...

AT&T Lady - How can I help you?

Me - I need to set up Internet at our new house.

AT&T - Ok, let me get your info - that should be out to you by Tuesday.

Me - Tuesday? Like 5 days from now? Is there any way to get a rush on our hook-up?

AT&T - Well, I'd have to check. Is this necessary because you work from home?

(Well, that depends. If you consider raising 5 small children "work", then yes, I work from home.)

(But instead I said this insane, foot in your mouth, foreign to the outside world, statement...)

Me - Well, not really. I just read a lot of blogs...like after I get the kids in bed...you know, just to catch up on what every one's up to...

AT&T - Silence. Total. Silence.

Me - I mean, it's like a hobby...well, sort of, I like to write too...it's more of a community...and we obviously just moved, and I want to post pictures...and I just feel like I would get so far behind without the Internet...and...

(stick foot in mouth!)
(you sound crazy!)
(STOP. TALKING!)

AT&T - I see. I can not do a rush delivery - It will still be scheduled for Tuesday, ma'am.

Me - Yes, Tuesday sounds perfect...

I swear, those words came out of my mouth so naturally. It's normal to not want to be without the Internet, right? No one else wants to miss something on their favorite blogs, right?

It's just me? I'm a little addicted? Alright, maybe.

So that's the deal. Here we are. With no Internet. Till Tuesday. (I'm at a coffee shop.)

The good news? We started moving last Friday, and finally all slept at our new home last night (Thursday). The girls are loving it, and it just feels like Home. Good stuff.

So, pictures? Oh yes, my friends - they're coming. Maybe not till Tuesday, but they're coming :).

Tell me I'm not the only one who really misses their Internet when it's gone?!

Hope you all have an awesome 3 day weekend!!

Go you for being so honest with the AT&T lady! I'm sure I would have said something kinda rude like "you either can set it up or you can't, what I do with it does not change your availability!". And I'm sure that would have gone over well...

Good luck with your Internet detox. Hopefully withdrawal symptoms will only last a couple days!

Hahaha! You're as bad as my sister. She was taking a "sick day" from blogging... so she actually posted a sick day post. WITH PICS!
But its hard to catch up if you miss a few days in a row. I understand.

You are NOT the only one! If I have to go without the internet, I feel like a caveperson cut off from the rest of the world. :p Have a great Memorial weekend!!

Dear AT&T lady: We NEED our Savvy Little Women. It is obvious you have not yet had the privilege of reading her blog....because if you had you would have seen the pictures she posts and YOU would not be able to wait until Tuesday. Do you self a favor and read it immediately....you will NOT be disappointed.
Signed,
A Savvy Fan

I so understand. I read all my favorite blogs when I was in the hospital everyday so that I wouldn't get behind. Can't wait to see pictures.

Kate,
You are so not alone! We are on our family trip to DC and I was hooked up to internet via my phone so I wouldn't miss anyone's blogs. And yes my sister is right even my sick day's from blogging I can't stay away.

Can't wait to see pics of the new house.

LOVE it!!! You are too funny! I felt the same way when we moved. My husband and I didn't know what to do with ourselves with all the quiet (no TV and no internet). In the end it was actually kinda nice to go to bed early and have time to talk/read a book before bed.
So glad that you're settling in - can't wait to see the pictures!

Oh girl, I feel your pain. It scares me that I *might* have an addiction. But really, I can stop any time I want. I just don't want!

Can't wait to see pics.

But no pressure
ps how's that pedicure holding up?

I died when you told me what you said to the AT&T lady! Like I said to you the other day, I'm sure she was telling everyone in her office how some crazy woman tried to convince her that she needed Internet access asap so that she could read some blogs. Ahh, priceless... :)

Yup... lost without the internet! Welcome home!

that great! I can laugh, because I'd be the same way :) Hopefully you're up and running now! But hey, at least you had a really, really good reason to visit the coffee shop, other than coffee that is. Which, yes, is justified in and of itself. Coffee that is.

When I move I'll have to plan a response to the "Internet Lady" ...

"Why yes ... I do work from home. It is imperative that I have daily communication with my co-workers."

"What type of work do you do?"

"I'm a Communications Specialist."

Aren't we all Communication Specialists?

Aren't we all co-workers ... working to raise up our children for the Lord ... Yes, we NEED each other. No, a week without internet is NOT acceptable.

However ... looking on the bright side ... a daily trip to the coffee shop (without children) might be nice.

Can't wait to see pics of the new house. Yippee!! Can't wait until we have a new house to move to.

Hugs!

Laurel :)

Seriously... this made me giggle. :)

Bless your heart. Really wish I could have helped you out with this move! That's a lot of 'work'.
