I Think I've Lost My Cool...

I'm not totally positive, but I'm pretty sure.

Today I was out with my girls running some errands, it was a gorgeous day. The sun was shining, there was a cool breeze, we're dancing in the car, I've got my new sunglasses on, I'm having a good hair day, and I'm lovin' my new nail polish on my toes...

It's just a feel good day...I'm feeling, cool.

Ahem.

I decide to get some gas while it's so nice outside. I get out, start pumping the gas, and continue to admire my hip and funky "Flirt with Fuchsia" polish. All the sudden the guy on the other side of the pump says...

Guy - Nice day out, huh?

Me - Yep, it's gorgeous.

(and then, he blind sides me with...)

Guy - You must have a baby...

(I pause and try to figure out if that's what he really said...and then try to decide if this is going in the direction of a compliment or an insult...)

Me - What? Well, yea, I do kinda have "a baby."

Guy - It's obvious, you have throw up all down the back of your shoulder...

Me - What? Oh, I mean, I know...haha...ha...ha. Oh mercy.

(yea I missed it. I was carrying a babe...while she was eating a graham cracker-ish thing...and yes she might have sneezed a couple times...and drooled or possibly spit up all down the back of me without me knowing...leading to this pretty addition to my favorite hoodie...)

Funny thing is, it made me wonder how often I go into public places like this...a lot?

Oh well, it happens, right? Not really? Just to me? Crap.

I think in that moment I went from, "I'm a cool, fun, modern mom..." to "I am waiting on the bus to MomJeansVille, Population: Me."

Good night, Coolness. Good Morning, 24/7 Mama...

It's alright though, I'd rather have that title anyway :).

--------------------------------

I am off to start getting things together for our little 4th bday party on Sunday, thanks for your ideas! Hope you all have a great weekend!

These things happen. But you're right, you were having a good hair day! Your hair is adorable!

Girl, don't you just love it when that happens? I call that the mommy-badge. Wear it proudly! ;) I agree with the previous comment... You look great.

Oh my goodness...you are totally earning a seriously BIG Mother's Day gift! Are the *right* people aware of how amazing you are?
I haven't felt truly "clean" since our boys were born. Wouldn't trade the goobers for the world!

Nothing says love like a cookie sneeze on your favorite hoodie. Look at it this way she could have sneezed in your face. Yes it has happened to me unfortunately on more than one occasion. You do look good though.

Hope it's okay that I laughed out loud at this - and not just a little, but a LOT! ;) I can't believe the guy even said anything, that's part of the humor in it. He must have been pretty confident you weren't going to deck him. ;) Thanks for sharing this - TOO MANY of us can relate! :)

Oh my!! Your hair does look cute tho!! I'm still chuckling.

Its kinda like going into the OB and meeting the new nurse practioner. I felt really good still fitting into my favorite red skirt and nice fitting black shirt. I always feel hot in this outfit!

She sits down and after a few questions askes what I do. I look at her and say "I stay home with the kids" "Oh, I thought so!" (what is it written all over my face that I escaped? Or do I also have something clinging to my shirt?) lol! I said "I run the whole house!"

I asked dh later if I have stay at home mom written all over my face. He said no, just sometimes it looks like you've escaped the house...

I love that he just called you out on having crap all over you. I am glad that you posted the photo, too, because when you described the situation to me, you made it sound like Raya spit up all down the back of you, so you couldn't have seen it. I loved seeing that it was all over your shoulder, too, but you had no idea. Too funny! :)

oh my goodness I just died a little-laughing. That is a cute story. I must say "grahmcracker-ish" compliments you. :) I LOVE your hair and must confess I covet it a little. My locks do not look good long or even short for that matter. Have fun at your birthday party :)

One of the very first blog posts I ever wrote was about this very thing! Always being covered in crap, being that "messy mom" when inside, i SWEAR i'm cool. I swear! I thought I was crusing back into cool, too now that Sophie's 3 1/2 but since I got myself knocked up again, I guess I'll just be messy on the outside a few years more. :)

Too funny! And yes, it does happen!

BTW-- I'm gonna have to look into the nail polish.

Your fingernails look cute too! :)

Believe me, I'm laughing WITH you not AT you, since I just had a similar situation happen.

I was at Target {surprise} wearing the "baby", aka 20 month old in my wrap. He was getting a little finicky and wanted down, so I broke out the granola bars for the kids. Well, this child does not gulp things like this down. He must indulge and enjoy every bite slowly and break it into many pieces. All this while the chocolate chips in it are melting and patting my face every few seconds.

Yep, you guessed it... I didn't get nearly all of the chocolate off my face walking through the store, before checking out. AT HOME in the mirror, I found quite a nice smearing of chocolate all over my jaw line and chin. ;) I'd rather have stuff on my hoodie any day. :)

That is funny. Good thing you do have a baby - and aren't just a REALLY messy eater! :D Love your hair! You have a way of making drool soaked graham cracker crumble look glamorous!

Too funny! Who says you can't still be cool with an unexpected accessory?

Funny! You still look great to me and all us mom's totally understand!

That is sooooo funny - and definitely (sadly?) all too relatable! :)

I've had a similar experience, only it was bright orange play dough squished into the backside of my "cute" jeans!
