When Insane Meets The Morning

If there was a "Craziest Time Of The Day" Award, my mornings would win.

It is insane.

Eric leaves before we all get up, so when my feet hit the floor, it is off to the races. Especially since we have a 45min drive to school right now...I know, don't even get me started. I try to lay as much as I can out the night before, so it cuts down on my stress level a little...the jury is still out on if that really works or not.

If I don't prepare a little, things get crazy, and pants end up on heads...

And people wonder why we're always late.

I put all the clothes out the night before...I arrange them in birth order. I know, I'm a nut case.

I fill cups...

And I pack snacks.

Those little snacks come in handy when we start to have meltdowns in the middle of a store. And by store, I mean Target. You know the scene, babies crying, and the older twins asking for things for their next "birfday." Reese has started this new thing when I ask her to be quiet...it makes me craazzyy...

Me: Reese, please be quiet just for a minute...
Reese: But Mom I need to tell you something...
Me: No you don't...
Reese: But I really need to tell you...
Me: You really don't...
Reese: But I dooooo...
Me: What is it, Reese?
Reese: Um, um, um, um, um...how tall are you?
(this is where you insert me banging my head against the self scanner pole.)

Don't think I don't pause and consider the wine aisle.

Anyway, I get my bag packed the night before too. Diapers, makeup (since I do mine in the parking lot), and every little thing we might need during our morning commute.
So that's our morning. It's chaotic, but it's our life.

Crazy, but oh so sweet :).

Brings back memories ...

That is exactly how I used to lay out all of the kids' clothes. And ... pack the snacks and the diaper bag the night before? Absolutely!

You're doing a GREAT job!

I ALWAYS lay the clothes out on our couch in birth order! there is NO other way =)

also, Tucker (3 year old) ALWAYS ALWAYS does the "me need to tell you something"
which means ask me something
as as Reece does...has to really think hard about what it is once Ifinally say "what"

I have left my head print on a pole or two through out Target!

You're doing better than me at getting things ready before it's go-time! I really should start doing that more.... Anyway, I think you're AWESOME! :)

oh my goodness... soooo sounds like our mornings! Scott is gone before we get up too, so I get everybody ready on my own. Let me tell you though, whoever's not in preschool that day wears JAMMIES to take Maggie to school :) :) Oh and I skip the makeup altogether, so I'm really impressed that you're so together :) :)

I think you just made an argument for homeschooling :)

Kinley with pants on her head--ADORABLE!!

Reese with her questions--TOO FUNNY! It actually reminded of when I was little and my mom would have a hard time getting me to stop talking at bedtime (hard to believe, I know). One night she told me that I could not say anything else unless it could not possibly wait until morning. So, I thought for hard a minute, and said, "Mom, I need to tell you something!" When she asked if it could wait until the morning, I proudly shook my head. She gave me the ok, and I said, "Goodnight!" :)

You're a great mom and those girls are lucky to have you! I'm pretty lucky to have you, too! :)

Ok I need a nap now after reading this post...;). I must say you are very organized. Prepping the night before, very smart. Imagine what it would be like if you did all those things the morningn of...next time you will be going down the wine aisle...btw, there's a wine aisle in your Target....? HMM not fair!

It is a battle in our house to get two kids out of the door, so I can just imagine how bad it must be for you!

I prefer to do my makeup "on the go" as well, because at least the kids are strapped in their seats and cannot play with all the things found in our bathroom and potentially leave home with some lipstick on their eyebrows.

Campbell does that same "I have to tell you something" or "I have something for you, can you guess what it is" with her hands out waiting for me to take it routine. I do however love your crazy stories and it makes me wishful for two more to add to our little craziness. Hugs, ML

LOVE it! and i also do everything in birth order...which seems even crazier with triplets who were all born within 34 seconds. in my odd head, though, it just makes sense. and i still do all this prep work the night before. most of the time, it makes morning easier. sometimes, though, it doesn't matter at all.

i'm so glad your zaniness makes me feel normal. ;-) love you!
