The Good News Is, I Didn't Break All Her Fingers

Oh me, oh my.

In a chaotic moment in our chaotic life, Reese got her hand shut in the bathroom door...

Or should I say, I shut her small, chubby, cute little hand in the bathroom door - it's so hard to keep track of where all 10 sweet hands are at any given moment.

Sigh.

The good news is that the Dr.'s think there is only a tiny fracture in one of her fingers...AKA, not a huge deal.

Sigh...again...
I felt sooo bad.

Anyone else want to share some of your, not-so "Mother of the Year" moments??

Well, in other, and equally as exciting news, tonight my 17 mo old {Hayden} tripped over *my* shoe down a short flight of *2* steps cut the bridge of his nose on the wire handle of a paint can and landed flat on his back on a concrete floor. Will LIKELY wake up with two black eyes in the morning. How he accomplished this, I will never know as I turned my back for just shy of 5 seconds.
I may be in the running with you for the not-so mother of the year award ;)

I took my eye off my 18 month old for about 5 seconds (long enough to pour water from the kettle into a cup) and she had climbed about 8 stairs by the time i got to her she had tumbled down all of them....GIANT BRUISE

My daughter wanted a bike for her 4th birthday, she asked and asked and asked so we got her one and then she didnt want to play on it on her birthday, i was so annoyed at her I was super grumpy. Turns out she didn't want to play on it because she had SCARLET FEVER. Cue most awful mummy feelings ever (it wasn't serious, she's all better now.

Oh no! I am so glad she is ok!

I wasn't watching Nathan close enough at my dad's house a few weeks ago and he feel down a flight of stairs. The whole flight of stairs, all the way to the bottom. I felt like the worst mother ever. I didn't even blog about it.

Well, there are so many really. But the latest was when my husband was rolling up our son's pants and Gibson thought he was done so he took off running. My husband still had a hold of his pant leg so he fell down. Well he cried and limped around a little, but still walked on it. As the evening went on he kept complaining about it, but he'd been whining about EVERYTHING, ALL day. So I told him he was fine and he still needed to obey and do what we asked. By bedtime he was crawling down the hallway. We took him to the ER and his foot was broken! So I had basically made him walk around on a broken foot all night, muttering to myself, "Dude, get over it."

I locked Lily in the car earlier this year. Not my best moment. But to my credit, at least I didn't FORGET her in the car -- that would've been worse!

Glad Reese is ok :)

I just stopped by for a visit and found you to be one amazing momma! Your girls are just beautiful and you capture them so sweetly.

Oh my goodness... crushing fingers in doors is definitely one of my fears! It *almost* happened this morning actually. I too accidentally locked the girls in the car once. Worst 15 minutes of my life!

While I was clipping my newborn sons nails I accidentally clipped the skin off the tips of several of his fingers. I felt so AWFUL!

~I have fallen down the stairs while hold my 9 month old son and 3 months pregnant with our daugther.
~I have slammed the van door on our son's hand.
~I have placed a car seat on a bench at a hockey arena and then watched it fall {with an my baby buckeled in it}.
Luckily all four of our children have survived ... it took some time to forgive myself and get over the embarrassment but I did {grin}
Hope your little girl is ok... and you are too.

Kate, please don't feel like you are alone! I have a bad record with Lucas!

When Lucas was 2 I put him in his crib and he tried to climb out (1st time ever) and broke both bones in his forearm. It was so bad they nearly came out of his skin. It was awful. Not directly my fault but I still felt bad!

Then last fall I was cutting down a peony with my clippers, I would clip a bunch and Lucas would grab it and make a pile. Well, our rhythm got off. He grabbed when I clipped and I cut his thumb at the 1st joint. It was truly believe it was the Lord that kept me from cutting the top part of his thumb off. It happened so fast, but something (the Lord) told me to let go of the clippers. All the blood made it look worse than it was. I think I stopped crying by the time we got to urgent care. He ended up having to wear a splint for 14 days to keep the skin together.

I know how awful it feels! You are still a good momma!

When my daughter didn't want to take a nap at about 5.5 months old, I let her scream for about 15 minutes while I prepared to get a house ready for guests, after the fifteen minutes I went up to get her... to see if she would take a bottle. Forgetting the bottle and carrying her down the stairs..(frustrated) I slipped and we both fell down the stairs... she went flying onto ceramic tile!!! I cried probably harder than she did and took her to the ER...she was fine. Mom... not so much! I felt so horible!!!Needless to say I am right there with you with the not-so mother of the year award!!! Makes me sick to think about it now... and she is going to be one in a month!

When our first was 10 months old, we were rushing around one Sunday morning getting ready for church and he fell off of our bed. He didn't cry very long so we didn't think too much about it at the time. The next morning when he still wouldn't use on of his arms to crawl, I took him to the Dr and it was broken!! I felt so bad, we hadn't even given him any Tylenol or anything, and people were grabbing his arm all day at church :( My heart ached for the next month every time I looked at his little cast.

Oh, sister. You're not alone, trust me! I remember the time I SLAMMED Savannah's fingers in refrigerator door - she had snuck up from behind and I didn't see them in the hinge. I know how it feels to have your mama heart hurt for something like that, but thank God He has made them so resilient! :)
