Finding Our New Normal

Or should I say, our new crazy.

Finding out that taking a shower before 5 kiddos 4 & under was a privilege, not necessarily something I can count on having time for.

And for that matter, now having the girls not just standing at the door while I shower, but telling me how the babies are fussing and that I should, "hurry it up."

Trying to pretend with EVERY single stranger that I haven't heard, "wow, you have your hands full." or "I'm tired just thinking about your life." or "better you than me" or "I mean...2 sets of twins...this is crazy...how are you not going crazy!" or "Your poor husband, he must want to build a little shack in the backyard for himself!" (in which I like to reply, "actually he loves all his little girls, they have him wrapped around their little fingers, thankyouverymuch.") or my personal favorite "are they all yours!?"

Also, when did Target become a place to collect my thoughts and get a few moments to myself? When did it become a "night out" for me?!

And last week as I looked around BabyGap, soaking up all the little girl clothes that are so amazingly cute this season, I realized that my shirt was on backwards...yep, backwards.

So I guess that this might be my "new norm." Crazy, but fun. Out of control, but joyful. Pulling my hair out, but getting some sweet hugs from some sweet little women. Not sleeping, but getting in some late night cuddling with some precious little babies. The New Norm...

I think your "norm" is wonderful. Keep up the good work with your girls. Your a great mommy..even if you dont have time for a shower every day. I dont and I have two. Grin.

You have such a beautiful family! You and Eric are so blessed. I always find people's responses to things like 2 sets of twins or larger families amusing. We can't wait to meet the newest little women. :)

Ha! I was going to suggest that if you didn't already read "It's Twinsanity" that you should...and then I see that she already commented! I think God has just chosen to double bless some people! Your girls are precious!

AMEN on the shower! My 4 year olds answered the door one day while I was showering. I came out in my towel to find my landlord standing in the doorway.
And having your shirt on backwards...thanks for that one! I needed a good laugh.
The other question I get really tired of is "so you're done now, right?!" I always say, "Nope we plan on having a few more sets!"

I think my shower time is the only part of the day I have to myself! Thank goodness for Target! I think it is every moms dream. :) I could spend hours there!
We are a little stir crazy here...we all caught the cold/flu bug, I can't wait to be able to breathe through my nose again. :)

Amen! You have to keep perspective...or else go nuts. =) And they are NOT babies forever--just ask my Mom, who has wished for years that she'd had more!

Beautiful blog design! Love it!

I can SOOOO relate to all this!! The comments used to bug me so much but now I just smile and keep moving. And going to Target by myself is heaven!! Heck, going grocery shopping by myself is a huge treat!!

I'm so glad I found your blog!! I love reading about the lives of other moms who also have 2 sets of twins!

I couldn't stop laughing at your shirt on backwards (believe me, I was laughing with you - not at you ;))

And I was even worse.....tore into Gap for a little siesta (Ron had all the kiddos) and I came out of the dressing room with my on backwards AND inside out....and continued shopping!

OOPSY!

Be blessed today - you are one amazing Momma!
